Apprehending threat to their life and liberty, both petitioners, who are aged about 30 years and 43 years, respectively, have filed the present petition praying therein to issue appropriate directions to respondent No.2 to provide adequate protection to them at the hands of respondent No.4. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that at the instance of petitioner No.1, criminal proceedings vide FIR No.90, dated 10.06.2026, u/s 74, 76, 351(2), 351(3) of BNS at Police Station Jhabal, District Tarn Taran, were initiated against respondent No.4. In the said criminal case, respondent No.4 is still at large and has not been arrested. The jurisdictional police is not initiating any proceedings against him. Taking undue advantage of this fact, it is alleged that respondent No.4 has been continuously threatening petitioners to withdraw the aforesaid FIR and enter into compromise. Police authorities were also requested to provide adequate protection to them but no heed was paid. Notice of motion to official respondents only. 4. On the asking of the Court, Mr. Kamalpreet Bawa, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3-State. 5. After considering the respective submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioners and the averments made in the petition, without commenting on the merits thereof, the present petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 – Senior Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran to consider and dispose of the representation dated 19.06.2026 (Annexure P-2), within a period of four weeks from date of receipt of certified copy of this order, by passing a well reasoned speaking order, in accordance with law in an expeditious manner.
