The petitioner filed this writ petition seeking for a mandamus directing the respondents No.3, 4 and 5 to consider the petitioner's candidature in a recruitment of Civil Police Constable (RPC) in the State of Karnataka under the ‘female’ category instead of ‘male’ category. 2. The petitioner has filed an application for the post of Karnataka Civil Police Constable at Chamarajanagar District. The said Police Constable Examination was conducted and the final list was published by the Karnataka Examination Authority, i.e., respondent No.5, wherein the name of the petitioner is shown as Harshini M., and it appears in the ‘male’ list and not in the ‘female’ list. The petitioner has requested to include her name in the female list. However, the said application was not considered and it is also contended that while filling up the form, due to oversight, instead of typing it as ‘female’, it has been typed as ‘male’. The petitioner also sought for rectification of the same in the application submitted by the petitioner in regard to the gender. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Government Advocate. 4. Learned Government Advocate submits that if a reasonable time is granted, the respondents will consider the representations of the petitioner vide Annexures-F and G and also permit the petitioner to carry out necessary corrections in the application insofar as gender is concerned. 5. In view of the submission made by the learned Government Advocate, I proceed to pass the following: ORDER i. The writ petition is disposed of, directing respondent Nos.3, 4 and 5 to consider the representations subtitled by the petitioner vide Annexures-F and G, and also permit the petitioner to carry out necessary corrections in the - 5 - HC-KAR CNR: KAHC010602822026 NC: 2026:KHC:47903 WP No. 27409 of 2026 application insofar as gender is concerned. ii.
