The petitioner’s application seeking fresh electricity connection filed online on 05.03.2026 is pending consideration before the authority till date. 2. Prayer has been made to direct the department to consider the said application. 3. Learned advocate representing the Electricity Department submits, upon instruction, that the representative of the Electricity Department inspected the premises and found that nobody stays at the subject premises. There are no electric wiring and no earthing at the subject premises. 4. It has been submitted that the formalities required for obtaining new electricity connection have not been complied with. 5. Upon hearing the submissions made on behalf of both the parties and on perusal of the documents placed before this Court, it appears that admittedly an application for obtaining fresh electricity connection is pending disposal. The authority ought to intimate the applicant the reason for non-disposal or non-consideration of the application. 6. The formalities required for obtaining fresh electricity connection ought to be intimated to the applicant. The authority ought not to have sat tight over the application that is pending disposal for a considerable period of time. 7. In view of the above, the instant writ petition stands disposed of by directing the respondent no.2, the Assistant Engineer, Electricity Department, Prothrapur Sub Division to consider and dispose of the petitioner’s application seeking fresh electricity connection strictly in accordance with law at the earliest, but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. 8. The formalities required for obtaining electricity connection shall be intimated to the petitioner. The petitioner shall be obliged to comply with all the legal formalities for obtaining fresh electricity connection. 9. The writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 10. All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Amrita Sinha, J. )
