1. The petitioner has filed the present writ application praying for a direction upon the Unique Identification Authority of India (hereinafter referred to as ‘UIDAI’), Kolkata to dispose of the representation dated 19th January, 2026 as early as possible by deleting the name of biological father of minor Vanshika Bothra from her Aadhaar card and to incorporate the name of adopted father.
2. Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner married to one Priya Ballodia alias Bothra on 13th December, 2024. Priya Ballodia alias Bothra prior to marriage with the petitioner, she had married to one Sushil Kumar Bothra on 29th November, 2012. In the marriage between Sushil Kumar Bothra and Priya Ballodia alias Bothra a female child namely Vanshika Bothra was born on 26th May,

2017. Due to some disputes between Sushil Kumar Bothra and Priya Ballodia alias Bothra, both parties with mutual consent obtained a decree from Learned Court of District Judge, Howrah on 18th April,
2024. After the divorce between Sushil Kumar Bothra and Priya Ballodia alias Bothra the petitioner has married to Priya Ballodia alias Bothra and has adopted the daughter of Priya Ballodia alias Bothra as his daughter. Now, the petitioner wants that the Aadhaar card issued in the name of the daughter Vanshika Bothra the name of the father is to be changed from Sushil Kumar Bothra to Rahul Ballodia. The petitioner has made an application before the Unique Identification Authority of India for correction of the father’s name of the daughter namely Vanshika Bothra as Rahul Ballodia instead of Sushil Kumar Bothra but the authorities have failed to consider the request of the petitioner and the representation filed by the petitioner is pending before the concerned authorities.

During the pendency of the present application, with the leave of this Court, the petitioner has added the biological father of the Vanshika Bothra as party respondent and has served notice upon the biological father of Vanshika Bothra. After receipt of the notice the father has submitted supplementary affidavit after serving the copy to the
learned Counsel for the petitioner wherein the biological father has admitted that the Priya Ballodia alias Bothra had married to the petitioner on 13th December, 2024 and pursuant to the understanding between the parties the daughter Vanshika Bothra was adopted by the petitioner, Rahul Ballodia and his wife Priya Ballodia alias Bothra

being the biological mother of the child by way of registered deed of adoption dated 2nd April, 2025. In the affidavit he further stated that he has no objection if the parties will change the name of the father of Vanshika Bothra in her Aadhaar card being no. 963861494874 as Rahul Ballodia instead of Sushil Kumar Bothra.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that after the mutual divorce between the biological father and mother of the minor, the minor has been adopted by the petitioner by way of registered deed and the biological father has given no objection for changing the name of the father of the minor as Rahul Ballodia instead of Sushil Kumar Bothra and as such he prayed for a direction upon the respondent authorities that is the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for passing appropriate order for correction of the name of the father of the minor in her Aadhaar card as Rahul Ballodia instead of Sushil Kumar Bothra.

Considering the submissions made by the respective parties, perused the documents and the supplementary affidavit filed by the biological father, this Court finds that the biological father categorically stated on affidavit that after the divorce between the parties the mother of the minor has married to the petitioner herein and they have adopted the daughter and the biological father has no objection for changing the name of the father of the minor in the Aadhaar card as Rahul Ballodia instead of Sushil Kumar Bothra.
6. Accordingly, respondent no.2 is
directed to consider the representation filed by the petitioner dated 19th January, 2026 for

changing the name of the father of the minor Vanshika Bothra as Rahul Ballodia instead of Sushil Kumar Bothra in her Aadhaar card No.963861494874 within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of this order.
7. Accordingly, WPO/40/2026 is disposed of.
