…for respondent no.11.

…for the State.
Affidavit of service filed by the petitioners is taken on record.
Learned counsel for the 11th respondent undertakes to file his Vakalatnama at the earliest. The petitioners who are members of Bokhara-II Gram Panchayat submitted a no confidence motion for removal of the Pradhan of the Panchayat before the Prescribed Authority on 17th August, 2026 which was received by the latter on the same date. By a notice issued on 20th August, 2026, the Prescribed Authority fixed the date of meeting on 31st August, 2026. However, by a subsequent notice issued on 31st August, 2026 the meeting was postponed due to non-availability of police assistance.
2 The petitioners seek a direction upon the Prescribed Authority to convene the meeting and conclude the proceeding in accordance with law.
Learned counsel for the State submits, on instructions, that the police is ready to assist the Prescribed Authority for the meeting to be held smoothly. Since the meeting fixed earlier has been postponed, the Prescribed Authority and Block Development Officer, Sagardighi Development Block, being the 5th respondent herein, is directed to convene the meeting within 10 days from the date of communication of this order upon service of notice to the parties concerned and take the proceeding to its logical conclusion at the earliest, in accordance with law. The Officer in Charge of Sagardighi Police Station, being the 8th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held smoothly without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever. The police authority shall ensure safe passage of the members to the venue of the meeting so that they are able to cast their votes freely, safely and independently. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
3 Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
