N.22Sl 151/CL 01.09.26 DL-05 Ct.-07 (S.R.) WPA 22555 of 2026 Mainul Islam v. The WBSEDCL & Ors. Mr. Usof Ali Dewan Mr. Mehedi Masud … for the petitioner. Ms. Susmita Chatterjee … for the WBSEDCL. 1. Affidavit of service filed in Court today is taken on record. 2. This writ petition alleges inaction on the part of the respondent WBSEDCL authorities in effecting electricity supply to the petitioner’s submersible pump. 3. Ms. Chatterjee, learned advocate appearing for the WBSEDCL authorities submits that electricity could not be effected to the petitioner’s submersible pump since the specific location of the petitioner’s submersible pump was not made known to the WBSEDCL authorities. It is further submitted that the petitioner had not provided the mobile/telephone number through which, the petitioner could be contacted and, as such, inspection itself could not be conducted. 4. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner has furnished the mobile number of the petitioner to Ms. Chatterjee in Court today. It is submitted that the petitioner can be contacted through that number. 5. In such view of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the WBSEDCL authorities to conduct an inspection. If, upon inspection, it is found that the petitioner is entitled to electricity supply to the writ petitioner’s submersible pump, the respondent WBSEDCL authorities would raise appropriate quotation on the petitioner for the petitioner to pay the same. Within two weeks of the petitioner paying the requisite charges and complying with other necessary formalities, the distribution licensee would effect electriciy supply to the petitioner’s submersible pump, in accordance with law. 6. It is made clear that the electricity supply would be effected, only if the petitioner is found entitled thereto, in accordance with law. 7. With the above observations, WPA 22555 of 2026 stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 8. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied as expeditiously as possible. (Om Narayan Rai, J.) 2 3
