WPA 22562 of 2026 Suraj Sk. v.
The WBSEDCL & Ors. Mr. Usof Ali Dewan Mr. Mehedi Masud … for the petitioner. Mr. Soumyajit Chakraborty … for the WBSEDCL.
1. Affidavit of service filed in Court today is taken on record.
2. The petitioner complains of inaction on the part of the respondent WBSEDCL authorities in effecting electricity supply to the petitioner’s submersible pump.
3. Learned advocate appearing for the WBSEDCL authorities submits that inspection was conducted pursuant to the petitioner’s application. However, neither meter room had been constructed by the petitioner nor boring was done, and as such, the electricity could not be effected in favour of the petitioner.
4. In such view of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of leaving the petitioner free to communicate to the WBSEDCL authorities once the petitioner complies with the requisite formalities, which include construction of meter room and
getting the boring done.
5. Upon the petitioner informing the WBSEDCL authorities in writing about compliance with the requisite formalities, the WBSEDCL authorities would conduct inspection afresh and if, it is found that the petitioner is entitled to electricity supply, the same would be supplied to the petitioner within two weeks of the petitioner paying requisite charges and complying with post inspection formalities, if any.
6. With the above observations, WPA 22562 of 2026 stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
7. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied as expeditiously as possible. (Om Narayan Rai, J.) 2
