Mr. Akib Ahmed, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Ms. Rangoli Purohit, learned Brief Holder for the State. 3. By the instant petition, petitioner no. 1 – Smt. Anshika Shukla, D/o Shri Ashok Kumar Shukla and petitioner no. 2 – Yogendra Singh, S/o Shri Anuj Pal Singh, are praying for adequate protection, since there is threat perception from respondent nos. 4 and 5, father and uncle of petitioner no. 1, since both of them are against their marriage. 4. Both the petitioners are present in person and they are duly identified by their counsel. 5. It is argued by learned counsel for the petitioners that both the petitioners are major and are working in SIDCUL, Haridwar and are well settled and both were in love and married on 21.11.2025 at Shiv Mandir, Roshnabad, Haridwar and they have also enclosed the marriage certificate issued by Mr. Deep Joshi, the priest of the temple, as Annexure No. 3 to the writ petition. In support of their age, petitioner no. 1 has enclosed her High School Certificate and petitioner no. 2 has enclosed his Adhar Card. 6. It is contended that since there is threat perception from respondents no. 4 and 5, therefore, petitioners have moved a representation to the SSP, Haridwar on 20.04.2026 but no action has been taken thereon. 7. Learned State Counsel has not disputed about the age and marriage of the petitioners, however, she submits that their marriage is not registered. 8. Since both of the petitioners are major and married with each other and there is threat perception from respondent no. 4 and 5, therefore, in such an eventuality, the State administration is under legal obligation to assess the threat perception and take appropriate steps to secure their life and liberty. 9. In such view of the matter, the instant writ petition is disposed of finally with the direction to the SSP, Haridwar – respondent no. 2 to make an assessment of the threat perception and if he comes to the conclusion that there is any threat from respondent nos. 4 and 5, take appropriate steps. Simultaneously, SHO, Police Station – SIDCUL, District – Haridwar is also directed to call upon respondent nos. 4 and 5 and advise them not to take law in his hand.
