It has been submitted that part salary for the month of January, 2020 and the entire salary for the month of February, 2020 was released in November, 2025. The petitioner seeks interest on account of such delayed payment of salary. 3. The petitioner, however, does not press the prayer for grant of ten years’ service benefit at this stage. 4. Learned advocate representing the State respondents is not aware as to why the full salary for the month of January, 2020 and the salary for the month of February, 2020 were not paid on time. Page 2 5. Admittedly, there has been delay in making payment of the salary. Accordingly, the District Inspector of Schools, Secondary Education Howrah is directed to grant simple interest on account of delayed payment of the salary at the rate of seven percent per annum calculated on and from the date it fell due and payable till the date of actual payment. 6. The interest shall be disbursed in favour of the petitioner at the earliest but positively by 29th May, 2026. 7. The writ petition stands disposed of. 8.
