36 05.01.2026 Court No. 10 AGM In The High Court At Calcutta Constitutional Writ Jurisdiction Appellate Side W.P.A. 25205 of 2025 Sunil Kumar Chowdhury -versus The State of West Bengal & Ors. Mr. Sanat Kumar Roy. Mr. Baidurya Ghosal. … for the petitioners. Mr. Pantu Deb Roy. Ld. A.G.P. Mr. Suman Ghosh. Mr. Sankha Prasad Roy … for the State. Mr. Pantu Deb Roy, learned A.G.P. who usually appears on behalf of the State, let his appearance be regularized along with other counsels already engaged in this matter by the office of the government pleader or the legal remembrancer. The petitioner is the holder of PSTP No 02/23-24 in respect of the route Memari to Katwa via Sankarpur, Satgechia, Kusumgram, Maldanga, Singi More (express service) for plying the vehicle bearing No. WB 11C/4235 under approved rotational timetable to render service to the commuters at large. The said permit having been issued by RTA, Purba Burdwan being the respondent no. 2 herein remains valid till 10.4.2028 based on which vehicle is plying on the route in question. The petitioner submits that the two other vehicles are also plying under the fixed timetable for providing services to the commuters of the said route. The petitioner has made a representation before the authorities on 22.7.2024 for seeking approval of the revised timetable but the same remains pending for consideration. Having heard the parties and upon perusing the available record, I direct the respondent no. 4 to consider the representation dated 22.7.2024 for seeking an approval of the fixed timetable in terms of the permit issued under Section 72 of the Motor Vehicles Act for the route Memari to Katwa within a period of sixty days by passing a reasoned order in accordance with law upon affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners along with the other interested persons, if any. Such decision shall be communicated within a week thereafter. With these observations, the writ petition stands disposed of without taking any exception to the merits of the case.
