The instant writ petition has been filed, inter alia, praying for a direction upon Raiganj Municipality to forthwith disburse and release the net retiring gratuity amount along with interest. 2. In support of the aforesaid contention, the petitioner claims to have served Raiganj Municipality, and retired from service on 31st December, 2025. The Pension Payment Order (PPO) was issued on 16th December, 2026. Unfortunately, notwithstanding issuance of the PPO, the petitioner did not receive net retiring gratuity which was determined to be Rs.6,79,638/-. 3. Although, this matter was previously adjourned on 11th August, 2026, since the respondents were not represented, today, the municipality is represented and has filed a report. 2 WPA 17884 of 2026 4. From the aforesaid report it would transpire that the gratuity amounting to Rs.6,79,638/- has been disbursed on 19th August, 2026, the GPF amounting to Rs.9,63,311/- has been disbursed on 30th January, 2026 and GSLI amounting to Rs.27,575/- has been disbursed on 31st February, 2026 in favour of the petitioner. 5. Let a copy of the aforesaid report along with the bank statement as filed in Court is taken on record. 6. Since the retiral dues have already been disbursed in favour of the petitioner, I am of the view nothing survives in the present petition. 7. The petitioner shall, however, be entitled to interest for delayed payment of gratuity at the rate of 8 per cent per annum from the date the same became due i.e. immediately after retirement till such time the same was actually disbursed. 8. The aforesaid interest should be disbursed in favour of the petitioner on an expeditious basis, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. 9. With the above observations and directions, the writ petition stands disposed of.
