At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner’s father who was working as a Chowkidar in the Public Health Engineering Department, Dhamtari, died on 13.01.2022, and after the death of his father, the petitioner immediately moved the application for seeking appointment on compassionate basis on 16.02.2022, however, the same is pending and no decision has been taken on the application moved by the petitioner. 3. Learned counsel for the State submits that if the application moved by the petitioner is still pending, the same shall be considered within a period of 50 days, in accordance with law. 4. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the documents annexed with the petition. 5. Considering the limited prayer made by the petitioner and the statement made by learned counsel appearing for the State that the application dated 16.02.2022 is still pending consideration, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the present petition pending. 6. Accordingly, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner’s claim for compassionate appointment, the respondent/competent authority is directed to consider and decide the petitioner’s application dated 16.02.2022, in accordance with law and the applicable policy/rules, within a period of 50 days from 3 the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The competent authority shall pass a reasoned and speaking order and communicate the decision to the petitioner forthwith. 7. With the aforesaid direction, the present petition stands disposed of.
