This matter has been taken up on an urgent basis from the list which has been assigned by the Hon'ble the Acting Chief Justice to this Bench for the day. 3. The petitioner is aggrieved that the application made by her seeking a caste certificate has not been disposed of by the concerned authority. 4. The petitioner belongs to a particular community which finds mention at entry number 94 in the Central List of Other Backward Classes (OBC) for the State of West Bengal. 5. The petitioner is a successful candidate in the NEET (UG) 2026. The petitioner has been granted provisional admission/allotment of a seat in Bhaarat Medical College & Hospital, Chennai, deemed University. 6. The last date of joining the Round-I counseling is August 31, 2026. Unless the petitioner uploads all her documents, including the caste certificate, her application may not be considered. 7. The petitioner had applied for the caste certificate on July 31, 2026, which is pending consideration. 8. Mr. Tiwary, learned Advocate appearing for the P a g e | 2 respondent authorities, submits that the authorities are lacking clarity as to whether the petitioner's case should be considered in line with the Central List or the State List, particularly, since the State List has now undergone a sea-change after the judgment of this Hon'ble Court, which has attained finality. 9. The petitioner's application seeking a caste certificate is clearly based on the Central List and has to be considered as such. The petitioner's representation of August 24, 2026, is also clear and unequivocal, inasmuch as it restricts the consideration only to the Central List. 10. In view of the afore-stated, let the application of the petitioner dated July 31, 2026 be disposed of along with the representation of August 24, 2026, by August 29, 2026. 11. It is absolutely imperative that necessary steps are taken to decide the issue by August 29, 2026, as August 31, 2006, is the last day for the petitioner to upload the form. 12. I make it clear that consideration of the application will not in any manner create any equity or right in favour of the petitioner which she otherwise does not have. 13. The petitioner will be informed of the fate of the caste application by 5:00 PM on August 29, 2026. 14. With the afore-stated directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No orders as to costs. 15.
