1. The petitioner – wife of the detenu – Major Kanhaiya Thakur (CTP No.16080) is before this Court seeking for the following reliefs:
a) Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction, directing the Respondents to consider and grant Emergency Parole to the Petitioner's Husband, Sri Major Kanhaiya Thakur (CTP No: 16080), in accordance with the provisions of the Karnataka Prisons Rules;
b) Pass an order or direction in the nature of a writ of mandamus directing Respondent No. 2 to release the Petitioner's husband, Major Kanhaiya Thakur (CTP No: 16080), on Emergency Parole;
c) Also grant any additional order/direction that this Hon'ble court may deem fit to grant under the
facts and circumstances in the interest of justice and Equity.

2. The detenu had been convicted in No.3020/ASC/GSM)/A1(LEGAL) for offences under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e), 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 by the Hon’ble General Court Martial/Hon’ble Colonel Officiating Officer Commanding Troops for Commandant, Bengaluru and sentenced on 10.04.2026 with rigorous imprisonment for six years and cashiered from service.
3. The detenu having served only a period of 1 year 3 months 29 days of imprisonment as on 30.06.2026, reserving liberty to the petitioner to file an application for parole after completing substantial period of sentence, the Writ Petition stands
disposed.
