This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the respondents-UPCL to provide/restore the electricity connection on the premise situated at 60 Landhora Bazar, Mussoorie, Dehradun.

When the matter was taken as fresh, it was contended by learned counsel for the petitioner that that no electricity dues were pending against her. Petitioner applied for a new connection and the same has not been given to her on the premise that there is no NOC filed by respondent no.4 who happened to be landlord of the petitioner.

This Court vide order dated 20.04.2026
directed learned counsel appearing for respondent-UPCL to get instructions in the matter.

Today, on instructions, it is submitted by
learned counsel for respondent-UPCL that the dues for the previous connection which were pending against the
2026:UHC:2986 2 petitioner have already been deposited by petitioner. Thus, there is no hindrance in providing electricity connection to the petitioner.

The electricity is basic amenity in life now days as has been held by Apex Court as well as by this Court in several matters. In this view of the matter, the writ petition is allowed.

The petitioner shall be provided new electricity connection without taking any NOC from the landlord within a period of three days from the date of receipt of this order.

Pending application, if any, stands disposed of accordingly.
