27.08.2026 Sl. No.02. D/L. Mithun. Ct.No.29. CRR/1010/2026 Ajoy Ghosh @ Ajoy Ghosh @ Buro Vs. The State of West Bengal Mr. Subhajit Chowdhury, Mr. Rony Mondal …for the petitioner Mr. Pritam Roy, Ms. Triparna Roy …for the State In this application, the petitioner has prayed for a direction upon the Court below for expeditious hearing in disposal of S.T. No.2(6) 2025 presently pending before learned Additional Sessions Judge, Fast Track 3rd Court, Barrackpore. Being aggrieved by the inordinate delay caused in disposal of the said proceeding, learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that FIR in connection with the present proceeding was initiated on 14.08.2023 and after completion of investigation police submitted charge sheet on 10.11.2023. After about 1½ years charge was framed against the petitioner on 05.06.2025 and next date was fixed for evidence. The prosecution proposes to examine 22 witnesses, but out of them they could examine only 5 witnesses so far and accordingly he prayed for necessary direction upon the Court below for expeditious disposal of the said proceeding. Having heard learned Counsel for the petitioner, I find that the prayer made by the petitioner is innocuous and if it is allowed in terms of the prayer made in the application, the opposite party 2 will have no cause to prejudice and as such service of copy of application upon the opposite party is dispensed with. Having considered the submission made on behalf of the parties, the instant application being CRR 1010 of 2026 is hereby disposed of with a direction upon the Court below to make every endeavour for expeditious disposal of the proceeding being S.T. No.2(6) 2025 and to make his best efforts to conclude the entire proceeding preferably within a period of 6 (six) months from the next date of hearing. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta. ( Dr. Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, J. )
