THIS PETITION, COMING ON FOR PRELIMINARY HEARING, THIS DAY, ORDER WAS MADE THEREIN AS UNDER:

2. Smt.S.Susheela, learned Senior Counsel appearing on behalf of Sri.Chetan B, learned counsel for the petitioners contended by referring to the impugned
order dated 18.03.2025 (Annexure-A) passed by respondent No.2 and the earlier order dated 11.04.2017 (Annexure-G2) passed by the very same Authority that respondent No.2, being a quasi-judicial authority, has no jurisdiction to review its own order. In support of the said contention, the learned Senior Counsel places reliance on the judgment of this Court in the case of Sri.N.Chandra Reddy vs. The State of Karnataka reported in ILR 2016 KAR 3275.
3. Per contra, Sri.Javahar Babu, learned counsel appearing for respondent No.4 submitted, on the merits of the case, that earlier
order dated 11.04.2017 (Annexure-G2) was erroneous and therefore, the very same Authority was justified in rectifying the said error by passing the impugned
order dated 18.03.2025

(Annexure-A). Accordingly, he sought for dismissal of the writ petition.
4. In the light of the submissions made by the
learned counsel appearing for the parties and on careful
consideration of the orders at Annexures-A and G2, it is evident that the impugned order therein before respondent No.2 was an entry made in MR No.3/2011-12. Taking into consideration respondent No.2 has already passed an order on 11.04.2017 (Annexure-G2) in respect of MR No.3/2011-12, I am of the view that, the said Authority has become functus officio and cannot entertain any petition seeking review of the very same order subsequently as there is no provision under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 to review its own order or issue any further direction to the respondent - authorities.
5. In that view of the matter, following the declaration of law made by this Court in the case of Sri.N.Chandra Reddy (supra), I am of the view that,

the order dated 18.03.2025 (Annexure-A) passed by respondent No.2 is liable to be set-aside. However, it is open for the aggrieved person, to challenge the order dated 11.04.2017 (Annexure-G2) before the competent authority, if so advised.
6. With these above observations, this Court proceeds to pass the following;
ORDER (i) The writ petition is allowed.
(ii) The
order dated 18.03.2025 (Annexure-A) passed by respondent No.2 is hereby set-aside and respondent No.3 is
directed to restore the mutation entry in terms of the order dated 11.04.2017 (Annexure-G2) in respect of the petitioners herein.
