Also heard Ms. M Bhattacharjee, learned Additional Senior Government Advocate, Assam for the respondent Nos. 1, 3 & 4, Mr. R Borpujari, learned Standing counsel, Finance Department for the respondent No. 2 as well as Ms. Tinlung, learned counsel appearing on behalf of Mr. R K Talukdar, learned Standing counsel, Accountant General (A&E), Assam for the respondent No. 5. 2. The instant writ petition has been filed by the petitioner who is the unmarried dependent daughter of one Late Hironmoy Purukayastha who was serving under the Assam Police. It is the specific claim of the petitioner that the claimed pension has not been granted to her by the respondents despite several representations having been filed. Page No.# 3/4 3. Ms. M Bhattacharjee, learned Additional Senior Government Advocate, Assam submits, on instruction, that the pension of the petitioner could not be released, inasmuch as, in the pension records of late Hironmoy Purukayastha, the name of the DDO has not been mentioned from where late Hironmoy Purukayastha retired. She furnishes a letter dated 01.04.2025 issued by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (W), Assam whereby the office of the Accountant General (A&E), Assam, Maidamgaon, Beltola, Guwahati has been requested to furnish the name of the DDO from where late Hironmoy Purukayastha retired from service for processing the unmarried dependent daughter family pension case. She further submits that once the aforesaid information is furnished by the Office of the Accountant General (A&E), Assam, the necessary process for the release of the family pension of the petitioner shall be initiated immediately. The same is kept on record and marked as ‘X’. 4. Ms. Tinlung, learned counsel appearing on behalf of Mr. R K Talukdar, learned Standing counsel, Accountant General (A&E), Assam submits that the Office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (W), Assam shall do the needful in terms of the said letter dated 01.04.2025. 5. In view of the aforesaid endorsements made by the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the State and the Accountant General (A&E), Assam, this Court, in the interest of justice, deems it appropriate to dispose of the instant writ petition, by directing the Office of the Accountant General (A&E), Assam to furnish the name of the DDO from where late Hironmoy Purukayastha Ex-SI(UB) retired from service, to the Office of the Assam Police Headquarter, Guwahati within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of a certified copy of the order, to enable the Assam Police Department to process the family pension case of the petitioner and upon receipt of the aforesaid information, the State respondents shall do the needful in accordance with law to finalize the release of the family pension of the petitioner, within a period of 1 month from the date of receipt of such information.
