The petitioners who are members of Burwan Panchayat Samiti seek police assistance so that the meeting convened on 18th August, 2026 for election of Sabhapati of the Panchayat Samiti can be held without any hindrance. It appears that consequent upon resignation of the Sabhapati of the Samiti, the Prescribed Authority has fixed the date of meeting for election of a new Sabhapati on 18th August, 2026. In view of the above, the Officer in Charge of Burwan Police Station, being the 9th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held peacefully and without any hindrance from any corner whatsoever. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. 2 There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
