1. The prayer of the petitioner for issuance of licence in respect of pre-1961 land bearing Survey No.1527/3 of approximately 812 sq.mtrs situated at Haddo (Anarkali)village is alleged to be pending consideration before the Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), South Andaman District since November, 2025.
2. None appears on behalf of the private respondent, despite service.
3. As it appears that the prayer of the petitioner is pending
consideration before the Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), accordingly, no useful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending.
4. The instant writ petition stands disposed of by directing the respondent no.2 being the Assistant Commissioner (Settlement), South Andaman District to consider and dispose of the petitioner’s representation received by the department on 03.11.2025 strictly, in accordance with law, after giving a reasonable opportunity of hearing to all the necessary parties at the earliest, but positively within a period of two months from

the date of communication of this order.A reasoned order shall be passed and communicated to all the parties.
5. If the prayer of the petitioner is allowed, necessary consequential steps shall be taken by the aforesaid respondent without any further delay.
6. It is made clear that this Court has not entered into the merits of the claim of the petitioner and all points are left open to be decided by the aforesaid respondent at the time of
consideration of the said representation.
7. Learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to forward a copy of the representation dated 03.11.2025 along with necessary supporting documents to the aforesaid respondent at the time of communicating the order of this Court.
8. The writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no
order as to costs.
9. All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this
order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
