By the present writ petition, the petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent authorities to consider and decide his pending application dated 05.09.2024 (Annexure P/2) for grant of compassionate appointment on account of the death of his mother. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner’s mother, Smt. Vimla Bai, who was working as a Cleaner under respondent No.5, died in harness on 23.08.2024. Thereafter, the petitioner submitted an application for compassionate appointment along with the requisite documents, including his educational and dependent certificates. Despite furnishing all necessary documents and there being no dispute regarding his claim within the family, the respondents have not taken any decision on his claim for compassionate appointment till date. Hence, the present petition has been filed seeking appropriate directions to the respondents. 3 3. At the outset, learned counsel appearing for respondent No.5, by placing the communication dated 13.05.2026, submits that the Municipal Council, Manendragarh, District Manendragarh- Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB), C.G., has found the petitioner eligible and fit for grant of compassionate appointment and has forwarded the recommendation to the Joint Director, Urban Administration and Development, for necessary action. Since no suitable vacant post is presently available at Manendragarh, the Joint Director, Urban Administration and Development, has further forwarded the said recommendation to respondent No.2/Director, Urban Administration and Development, by letter dated 31.07.2026. He submits that the petitioner’s claim is presently pending consideration before respondent No.2. 4. At this juncture, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the present petition may be disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to consider and finalize the recommendation made by the Municipal Council, Manendragarh, and forwarded by the Joint Director vide letter dated 31.07.2026. 5. On the other hand, learned State counsel submits that, as the claim of the petitioner is pending consideration before respondent No.2, the same shall be considered and appropriate steps for grant of compassionate appointment, in accordance with law, shall be taken within the stipulated period. 4 6. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the pleadings as well as the documents appended with the writ petition. 7. Considering the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner and taking into account the submissions made by learned counsel for the parties, particularly the fact that the petitioner’s claim has already been recommended by the Municipal Council, Manendragarh, and the said recommendation has been forwarded to respondent No.2, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2/Director, Urban Administration and Development, to consider and decide the petitioner’s claim and take appropriate steps for grant of compassionate appointment, in accordance with law, expeditiously, preferably within a period of 30 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 8.
