19.08.2026 Court No.35. D/L. 848. Kausik (Rejected) CRM (NDPS) 1694 of 2026 In Re: An Application for Bail under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023/ Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 in connection with English Bazar Police Station Case No. 2499 of 2025 dated 12.12.2025 under Sections 21(c)/29 of the NDPS Act. And In the matter of : Sujoy Chowdhury @ Sujay Chowdhury ……Petitioner. Mr. Apan Saha Mr. Mosaraf Hossain Mr. Tasnim Ahmed ……for the Petitioner. Mr. Sayak Chakraborti, Jr. Govt. Pleader Mr. Madan Mohan Ray ……for the State. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that petitioner is unnecessarily languishing in custody for more than 7 months. Charge sheet has already been submitted. As such, petitioner may be released on bail. State has opposed the prayer for bail and referred to the memo of evidence which incorporates 4 criminal cases pending against the present petitioner. Having regard to the fact that the other cases are also of heinous in nature, I am of the view that there has been no change of circumstances since the earlier prayer for bail of the petitioner was rejected. 2 Accordingly, present application being CRM (NDPS) 1694 of 2026 is dismissed. Memo of Evidence submitted be kept with the record. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
