The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of directions to respondents No. 1 to ensure protection of the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of respondent No. 3 and not to interfere in the matrimonial life of the petitioners. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major and have solemnized their marriage on 07.07.2026. A copy of the marriage certificate has been placed on record as Annexure P-1. It is further submitted that petitioner No.1 was previously married, however, his marriage stands dissolved by a decree of divorce, a copy whereof has been annexed as Annexure P-2. Learned counsel further contends that ever since the marriage, the private respondents have been extending threats and intimidating the petitioners with dire consequences. Learned counsel submits that he would be satisfied if directions are issued to respondent No.1- Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, Punjab to look into their representation and take appropriate steps at the earliest. 3. Notice of motion to official respondents. 4. Mr. J.S. Rattu, learned DAG Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of official respondents. 5. In view of above, petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.1- Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, Punjab to provide necessary protection to the petitioners after considering threat perceptions to their life and liberty and to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioners is not jeopardized at the hands of the private respondents. However, this direction will not validate the marriage said to have taken place between the parties and will have no effect on any civil or criminal action, which could be initiated in the matter in accordance with law. 6.
