1. The present petition has been filed by the petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to pay arrears of salary dues from 2002 till the date of retirement and service benefits of her deceased husband, Sh. Vinod Kumar, who had been working as Work Mistry in the erstwhile Punjab State Electricity Board (now Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited). Further direction has been sought to the respondents to release the retiral benefits i.e. pension, gratuity, leave encashment etc. which have become due to petitioner’s deceased husband on his attaining the age of superannuation i.e. 58 years and release family pension to the petitioner after the death of her husband on 06.01.2024 with interest @ 8% per annum.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that for redressal of her grievances, the petitioner has also served legal notice RAVINDER SINGH 2026.07.28 16:43 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this
order/judgment
-2- CWP-18479 of 2026 dated 16.03.2026 (Annexure P-9) to the respondents which is still pending consideration. He further submits that at this stage, the petitioner would be satisfied, if appropriate directions are issued to the respondents to consider and decide the said legal notice, by passing a speaking order, in a time bound manner.

4. Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents-State. He has no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner.
5. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.1 to consider and decide legal notice dated 16.03.2026 (Annexure P-9) submitted by the petitioner expeditiously, by passing a speaking order after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, preferably within a period of three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. Further, the decision taken thereon shall be conveyed to the petitioner.
