Apprehending his arrest in FIR No. 0025 dated 06.02.2026 under sections 115 (2), 118 (1), 191 (3), 190, 109, 324 (4), 238, 117 (2) of BNS 2023 (Earlier Corresponding Section 323, 324, 325, 307, 148, 149, 427, 201, IPC 1860), registered at Police Station City Sangrur, District Sangrur, the petitioner has preferred this petition under Section 482 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 seeking pre-arrest bail.

On 03.07.2026, the following order was passed:
“Reply dated 02.07.2026 in the form of an affidavit of Dalbir Singh PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sub Division, Sangrur has been filed on behalf of respondent-State. The same be taken on record. Copy thereof has been supplied to
learned counsel for the petitioner.

Espousing the cause of the petitioner, learned counsel for the petitioner has inter alia contended that the FIR in question was got registered on account of a misunderstanding, due to which a scuffle broke out. However, the matter has now been amicably settled between the parties, and a written compromise dated 04.05.2026 (copy whereof has been appended as Annexure P-2 with the petition in hand) has also been effected. The petitioner is a person with clean antecedents & the petitioner is willing to join the investigation and cooperate therein.
At this juncture, learned counsel for respondent Nos. 2 and 3 has ratified the factum of the matter having been amicably settled between the parties.
Adjourned to 28.07.2026.
The petitioner is directed to appear before the Investigating Officer on 08.07.2026 at 11:00 A.M. in concerned Police Station and join investigation. In the event of arrest, the petitioner shall be released on interim bail subject to his furnishing personal/surety bond(s) to the satisfaction of the Arresting Officer/Investigating Officer. As and when further called by Investigating Officer, the petitioner shall join the investigation. He shall abide by the condition(s) enumerated under Section 482(2) of the BNSS.”

Learned State counsel (on instructions) has submitted that the petitioner has joined investigation and he is not required for custodial interrogation.

Keeping in view the factual milieu of the case in hand, especially the factum of the petitioner having joined investigation and he is not required for custodial interrogation, the petition is allowed and the
order dated 03.07.2026 granting interim anticipatory bail to the petitioner is hereby made absolute, subject to the conditions as enumerated under Section 482(2) of BNSS.

confined to the FIR mentioned ibid and will not operate in respect of any other incident that involves commission of an offence.

Liberty is reserved in favour of State/complainant to move for cancellation/recall of this order in case the petitioner violates any condition stipulated under Section 482(2) of BNSS or upon showing any other sufficient cause.

Needless to say that anything observed herein above shall not be construed to be an opinion on the merits of the case.

Pending application(s), if any, shall also stand disposed off.
