1. By filing the present petition, the petitioner has called in question the inaction on the part of the Maintenance Tribunal-cum-Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Tilda-Nevra, District Raipur, in not concluding the proceedings bearing Case No.202509115000014/ब-121/

2 under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and has prayed for a limited direction for expeditious disposal of the said proceedings. The petitioner has prayed for the following reliefs:-
“i. Issue an appropriate writ, order or direction, particularly in the nature of mandamus, directing the learned Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Tilda-Nevra, District Raipur (C.G.) (Respondent no. 3), to expeditiously conclude and finally decide the proceedings bearing Case No. 202509115000014/ब-121/
व 2024-25, Smt. Pushpa Devi Batra v. Deepak Batra & Others, pending before the learned authority under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, within a time-bound period as may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court; ii. Direct the learned Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue), Tilda-Nevra, to proceed with and conclude the aforesaid proceedings in accordance with law, after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to all concerned parties, without granting unnecessary adjournments; iii. Pass such any other order(s) or direction(s) as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the interest of justice, equity and good conscience. iv. Award costs of the petition in favour of the Petitioner.”

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the proceedings before the Maintenance Tribunal have remained pending since 2025
3 and, despite the matter having substantially progressed, the same has not yet been finally decided. He, therefore, confines his prayer to a limited direction to the concerned Maintenance Tribunal to consider and decide the pending proceedings expeditiously, in accordance with law.
3. Learned State counsel submits that he has no objection to the limited prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner.

Having considered the submissions made by learned counsel for the parties and the limited prayer made in the present petition, the concerned Maintenance Tribunal is directed to consider and decide the aforesaid proceedings expeditiously, preferably within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order, in accordance with law and after affording due opportunity of hearing to all concerned parties.
5. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the pending proceedings, and the concerned authority shall decide the same strictly in accordance with law and on its own merits.
6. With the aforesaid direction, the present writ petition stands
disposed of.
