1. Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of petitioner is taken on record.
2. Learned advocate representing petitioner by drawing attention of this Court to a complaint dated 14th June, 2026 submits that petitioner’s pregnant wife was physically assaulted on 4th June, 2026 by accused persons which gave rise to a criminal prosecution being Uluberia P.S. Case No.380 of 2026 dated 14th June, 2026. It is further submitted that police authorities may be directed to provide protection to petitioner so that petitioner and his family members may not be threatened and assaulted again.
3. Learned advocate representing State respondents has filed a communication dated 28th July, 2026 of Inspector-in-Charge, Uluberia Police Station and same is taken on record. Copy of the said communication dated 28th July, 2026 is made over to learned advocate representing petitioner.
4. It is disclosed in the said communication dated 28th July, 2026 that two following criminal prosecutions are initiated against the accused persons:
[2] i) Uluberia P.S. Case no.380/ 2026 dated 14th June, 2026; ii) Uluberia P.S. Case no.438/ 2026 dated 30th June, 2026.
5. Police authorities are directed to investigate the aforesaid two criminal prosecutions expeditiously and submit report before the jurisdictional Magistrate.
6. However, concerned police authorities are also
directed to provide protection to petitioner and his family members, if occasion so arises.
7. Moreover, petitioner shall also be permitted to stay at his residence with the assistance of concerned police authority.
8. With the aforesaid directions writ petition stands
disposed of.
9. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
