1. The petitioner is the widow of a former constable who died in harness sometime in November 2006. The petitioner had thereafter been appointed for a multitasking job on a contractual basis.
2. The petitioner is aggrieved that her appointment has not been regularized.
3. Mr. Drolia, learned Advocate appearing for the respondents, has drawn the attention of this court to the Scheme for Compassionate Appointment, whereby Clause 7(a) dealing with such appointments specifies that appointment on compassionate grounds should be made only on regular basis and that too, only if regular vacancies meant for that purpose are available.
4. Mr. Drolia has also come with instructions that there is no regular vacancy available at present.
5. I direct, the authorities to intimate the petitioner of any regular vacancy, as and when the same is available, and to consider the case of the petitioner for regular

appointment to such post, subject to the vacancy and the eligibility of the petitioner to that other post, even if the same is in another department.
6. Needless to say that this appointment will be treated as a compassionate appointment.
7. With the aforesaid directions, the writ-petition is disposed of. No order as to costs.
