(2) Petitioner served as Assistant Teacher in a Government Junior High School and retired on 31.3.2025. The amount payable as GPF has not been released to her so far. Therefore, she has approached this Court seeking a direction to the respondents to release amount of GPF, as calculated by Senior Accounts Officer in his letter dated 16.2.2026. (3) Learned State Counsel, on instructions, submits that the Accountant General has granted approval for release of GPF amount in favour of petitioner only on 6.4.2026 and the matter is now pending before Deputy Education Officer, Block Bhimtal. (4) Mr. Rajesh Sharma, learned Counsel appearing for the Accountant General, refers to a document enclosed as Annexure-1 to the writ petition, which is a letter issued by Treasury Officer, Nainital to Deputy Education Officer, Bhimtal on 15.5.2025. He submits that the Deputy Education Officer thereafter referred the matter to the Accountant General on 12.12.2025. (5) Learned State Counsel submits that the amount of GPF would be released 2026:UHC:2791 to the petitioner as early as possible. (6) Writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of by directing the District Education Officer (Elementary), Nainital to ensure that the amount of GPF is released to the petitioner with admissible interest positively within three weeks from the date of presentation of certified copy of this order. In case of failure to release the amount of GPF within the stipulated time, the outstanding amount shall carry interest @ 8 per cent per annum.
