Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner in respect of the matter. 2. The short grievance of the petitioner, as stated through the medium of this instant petition filed in terms of the provisions of Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is that the petitioner has already filed an application before the respondent No. 2-Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar for reissuance of his passport bearing Application Reference No. 25-0072713538 and File No. SG1076327302125, which is pending disposal since long. 3. The petitioner has accordingly sought a direction upon the respondents for reissuance of passport in his favour in accordance with the law. 4. Ms. Shigufta Maqbool, learned counsel appearing vice Mr. T. M. Shamsi, learned DSGI, submits that she is ready with the reply on behalf of the respondent Nos. 1 and 2, despite the fact that the Court is yet to issue notice in the matter. However, she further submits that the case of the petitioner for reissuance of the passport is under process, and the report regarding verification of his character and antecedents is awaited from the respondent No. 3. 5. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner’s grievance shall stand redressed if the respondents are directed to expeditiously proceed the application filed by the petitioner for reissuance of passport in accordance with the law. 6. In the light of the facts and circumstances of the case, especially keeping in view the innocuous prayer sought by the petitioner, the Court is of the opinion that the matter can be decided at this threshold stage with a direction to the respondents to address the pending application of the petitioner in an expeditious manner, in accordance with the law. 7. It is supposed that the petitioner may be in need of the passport and would be suffering due to non-issuance of the same at the earliest. 8. Accordingly, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to proceed in the application of the petitioner bearing Reference No. 25-0072713538 and File No. SG1076327302125, for reissuance of passport in his favour in an expeditious manner, in accordance with the law. 9. A status report be submitted in this regard to the Registry of this Court within a period of three weeks. 10. Disposed of, along with all the connected CM(s).
