For Petitioner : Mr.C.Karthikeyan For Respondents : Mr.T.Lenin Kumar, Counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) O R D E R [Order of the Court was made by N.ANAND VENKATESH, J.] This writ petition has been filed challenging the proceedings of the first respondent made in No.247226/Tha.Ku.4/2026, dated 04.06.2026, wherein, the first respondent while granting emergency leave for six days imposed a condition that the convict will be accompanied by an escort. 2. Heard the learned counsel on either side. 3. The petitioner's husband is a life convict and he is serving sentence at Central Prison, Trichy. The petitioner submitted a representation seeking for emergency leave on the ground that the convict's father is suffering from serious ailments and he required the physical and emotional support of the convict. A representation was considered by the first respondent and six days emergency leave was ____________ https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.CRl..(MD).No.3131 of 2026 granted with a condition that the convict will be accompanied by an escort. This condition has been put to challenge in the present writ petition. 4. The learned counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) on instructions submitted that the convict has undergone sentence of three years, ten months and twenty seven days and he was earlier granted ordinary leave once. 5. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the reason for which the emergency leave has been sought for and taking note of the fact that ordinary leave was earlier granted to the convict without escort, we are inclined to modify the condition to the effect the convict will report before the second respondent Police daily at 05.00 p.m., during the entire emergency leave period. The other conditions imposed by the first respondent shall stand as it is. 6. This Writ Petition is disposed of in the above terms.
