Ms. Tapasi Palit Sinha who usually appears for the State and is present in Court, is requested to represent the State in this matter. Her appointment be regularized by the appropriate authority. The petitioner is directed to serve copy of the writ petition alongwith annexure thereto upon the learned counsel for the State in course of this day. The petitioner and the private respondents are members of Pirganj Gram Panchayat. The Prescribed Authority by a notice issued on 7th August, 2026, has fixed the date of meeting for election of new Pradhan on 25th August, 2026. The petitioner seeks a direction upon the police authority to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed 2 Authority so that the meeting is held without any hindrance. Upon consideration of the submission made on behalf of the parties, the Officer in Charge of Pukuria Police Station, being the 7th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held tomorrow, that is, on 25th August, 2026 peacefully and without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever and the members are able to cast their votes safely and independently. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted. The parties are at liberty to communicate the gist of the order to the concerned authorities at the earliest.
