04.08.2026 Item no. 14 Ct. No.237 AKG
C.R.R. 2111 of 2026 Arshad @ Aslam Khan @ Ershad @ Aslam Vs. The State of West Bengal
Mr. Kaushik Gupta, Sr. Adv. Mr. Saryati Dutta
……for the Petitioner Mr. Kallol Mondal, Ld. P.P. Mr. Subir Ganguly
… for the State
Mr. Kaushik Gupta, learned Senior Advocate, at the time of moving this application, did not press the prayer for quashing the proceedings pending before the learned Trial Court. He confined his submissions to the limited relief of seeking a direction from this Court for the expeditious disposal of ST No. 37 of 2018, arising out of Howrah GRPS Police Station Case No. 31 dated 02.03.2002 under Sections 150/151/120B of the Indian Penal Code, which is pending before the Court of the learned Additional District and Sessions Judge, 3rd Court, Howrah. It appears that the charge sheet in the present case was filed on June 24, 2003, under Sections 150, 151, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Charges against the petitioner were framed on February 18, 2024, under the aforesaid provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Mr. Gupta submits that, as on date, only one out of the sixteen prosecution witnesses has been examined.
2 Having regard to the prolonged pendency of the case, this revisional application is disposed of with a direction to the learned Trial Judge to take all necessary steps to ensure the expeditious disposal of the case, without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. Accordingly, CRR 2111 of 2026 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
