20.08.2026 IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA Item No.807 CRIMINAL MISCELLANEOUS JURISDICTION Ct.No.35 dc. Rejected C.R.M. (NDPS) 1713 of 2026 In Re : An Application for bail under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 filed in connection with Patiram Police Station Case No. 3 of 2025 dated 01.01.2025 under Sections 21(c)/22(c)/23(c)/27A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. And In Re : Jahangir Mondal ... Petitioner. Mr. Kaushik Choudhury, Mr. Dwaipayan Panda ... For the Petitioner. Mr. Rajdeep Biswas, Mr. Ravi Ranjan Kumar ... For the State. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that petitioner is in custody for 1 year 7 months. It has been submitted that the independent and seizure list witnesses were examined who have turned hostile in the present case and another accused has been granted bail. As such, petitioner prays for bail. Learned advocate appearing for the State, on the other hand, opposes the prayer for bail and submits that about 16 witnesses have been examined and few more witnesses would be relied upon by the prosecution. Learned advocate has emphasised that the petitioner is having previous antecedents and there are three cases which reflect that petitioner has been accused out of which two are under the NDPS Act and one is under the Bengal Excise Act. 2 Having considered the antecedents of the present petitioner, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail. As such, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected. Memo of Evidence submitted by the learned advocate appearing for the State be kept with the record. The application for bail, being CRM (NDPS) 1713 of 2026, is, thus, dismissed. All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
