Rakib In the High Court at Calcutta Circuit Bench at Jalpaiguri Criminal Miscellaneous Jurisdiction CRM (A) 973 of 2025 In Re: An Application for Anticipatory Bail under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973/Under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 in connection with Sahebganj Police Station Case No. 668 of 2024 dated 20.11.2024 under Sections 20(a)(i)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. And In the matter of : Ananth Chadra Barman @ Anath Barman ……Petitioner. Mr. Sudip Guha Ms. Ankita Nag ……for the Petitioner. Mr. Kallol Acharjee Mr. Abhijit Sarkar Mr. Bhaskar Das ……for the State. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is aged about 70 years and has been falsely implicated in connection with the instant case. On the other hand learned advocate for the State has produced the Case Diary as also the ownership of the land. Having considered that 50 kgs of contraband were being recovered from the cultivated land which belongs to the present petitioner, I am of the opinion that this not a fit case for granting anticipatory bail. 2 Accordingly, the prayer for anticipatory bail of the petitioner in CRM (A) 973 of 2025 is dismissed. All parties shall act in terms of server copy of the order downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.)
