The post of Pradhan of Bahutali Gram Panchayat fell vacant upon removal of the Pradhan by an order passed by the Prescribed Authority on 23rd June, 2026. By a notice issued on 10th August, 2026, the Prescribed Authority has fixed the date of meeting for election of a new Pradhan on 20th August, 2026. The petitioners seek a direction upon the police authority to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held without any hindrance. It appears from the report submitted by the State that the Inspector in Charge, Suti Police Station has stated that police arrangement will be made at the block office on the date of meeting for maintaining law and order, if no other emergency or law and order situation arises. 2 In view of the fact that the meeting for election of the new Pradhan has been fixed on 20th August, 2026 at the Bahutali Gram Panchayat office, the Officer in Charge Suti Police Station, being the 6th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority as well as the members of the Panchayat so that the meeting is held peacefully and without any hindrance from any corner whatsoever. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.
