Renewal of passport sought by the petitioner is refused on the ground that a criminal proceeding is pending against him. Whereas, on verification by the learned Assistant Government Pleader, the said fact found to be incorrect. 3. Therefore, the obstacles for renewal of the passport does not subsist. However, since the purpose of seeking renewal of the passport is to enable the petitioner to attend her daughter’s convocation ceremony, it is necessary to expedite the proceedings. 4. Admittedly, because of wrong reporting about the pendency of the criminal case by the respondent no.3-P. S.O. Shegaon, the renewal could not be made. 5. In the circumstances, we direct the respondent no.3 to communicate forthwith to the respondent no.2 about non-pendency of the criminal proceeding against the petitioner. On receipt of such information, the respondent no.2 is directed to renew the passport of 2026:BHC-NAG:10613-DB 22-WP-2886-2026.odt 2 the petitioner, if there is no other legal impediment, within one week therefrom. 6. Ms Marpakwar, the learned AGP to communicate this order to the respondent no.2. 7. In that view of the matter, as nothing remains in the present matter, the writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to file afresh, if such occasion arises. No order as to costs.
