1. The grievance of the petitioner in the present writ application is that the Block Development Officer, Harischandrapur-I, Malda had issued the work order to the petitioner for infrastructure of DCRC/Counting including temporary stall, pandel, electrification, sound system, civil work, supply of various articles etc. i.c.w. WB PGE-2023 at Harischandrapur-I, Development Block on June 26, 2023.

As per the work order, the petitioner has completed the work and after completion of the work the Block Development Officer has also issued the work completion certificate on September 2, 2025 certifying that the petitioner has carried out the work as per the sanction estimated plan and there is an outstanding dues of Rs. 17,36,688/-.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in spite of the admitted amount of Rs. 17,36,688/-, the respondent authorities have not released the said amount. He further submits that the petitioner has also made representation to the authorities for release of the amount but the same has not been released.

Learned counsel for the respondents submits that if a direction is passed, the authorities will consider and take appropriate decision with regard to the release of the amount.

In view of the submission made by the learned counsel for the parties, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 2, District Magistrate and Collector, Malda to consider the request of the petitioner with regard to the release of the payment in terms of the work order dated June 26, 2023 and the work completion certificate issued by the Block Development Officer dated September 2, 2025 and to pass appropriate
order for release of the said amount in favour of the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of this order.
6. WPA 19591 of 2026 is disposed of.
7. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
