2. Petitioner was granted license for retail sale of Indian-made foreign liquor. According to him, certain persons are holding demonstration in front of liquor shop of the petitioner due to which not only petitioner’s business is adversely affected, but apprehension of an untoward incident happening is also present.
3. Learned State Counsel submits that adequate police protection is being provided to the shop of petitioner to prevent any untoward incident.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that State is under a duty to provide protection to persons, who have been given license for retail sale of liquor. He submits that petitioner has made representation to the District Magistrate, Nainital and he will make another representation within 24 hours, and the District Magistrate may be directed to consider the same.
5. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed
2026:UHC:2708 of by directing the District Magistrate, Nainital to look into the grievance, as highlighted by petitioner in his representation and pass necessary order, as per law, within three weeks from date of presentation of such representation along with certified copy of this order.
6. Let a certified copy of this order be issued today itself, as per rule.
