(Oral) 1 Present contempt petition has been filed under Sections 10 and 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, for alleging non-compliance of the order dated 23.03.2026 (Annexure P-1) passed by this Court in CWP-8696-2026, wherein the following direction had been issued:- “2. The present writ petition has been filed by the Sarpanch in her personal capacity. It was stated that the Panchayat Secretary was not cooperating with the Gram Panchayat in passing a requisite resolution for filing the writ petition on behalf of the Gram Panchayat. The resolutions passed by the Gram Panchayat stated that the trees standing on the land belonging to the Gram Panchayat had been illegally cut by private persons at night. Despite the said resolutions having been passed, no further action was taken by the Block ANKIT 2026.07.22 12:12 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document High Court, Chandigarh COCP-2708-2026 (O&M) -2- Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Nurpur Bedi to whom the resolutions were sent. 3. Notice of motion. 4. Mr. Aftab Singh Khara, Sr. DAG Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 5 and states that necessary action would be taken by the BDPO, Nurpur Bedi after looking into the matter within a period of two weeks from today. 5. In view of the above, the present writ petition is disposed off with a direction to the BDPO, Nurpur Bedi to look into the matter and take appropriate action, if required, in accordance with law. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.” 2. Learned State counsel handed over a copy of order dated 14.07.2026 passed by the Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Nurpur, which is taken on record, subject to all just exceptions. A copy thereof has been handed over to the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner in Court today. 3. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner after going through the aforesaid order dated 14.07.2026 passed by Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Nurpur, submits that the present petition may be disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to avail her remedies against the aforesaid order dated 14.07.2026, in accordance with law. 4. Ordered accordingly. 5. All the pending application(s), if any, shall also stand closed.
