Learned advocate representing petitioner appears on virtual mode and submits that petitioner’s brother is presently in correctional home in connection with one criminal prosecution. However, petitioner’s brother is required to execute power of attorney and by presenting this writ petition direction is sought for upon the concerned State respondents to permit petitioner’s brother to execute such power of attorney. 2. Learned advocate representing State respondents has filed a writing dated 6th August, 2026 of Officer-in-Charge, Law Cell, Directorate of Correctional Services, West 2 Bengal and same is taken on record. Copy of said writing dated 6th August, 2026 is made over to the learned advocate representing petitioner. 3. It is disclosed that petitioner’s brother is an under trial prisoner who is at present lodged at Suri District Correctional Home in connection with Rampurhut Police Station Case No. 465 of 2025 and 681 of 2025. However, it has been decided by the concerned respondent authority that brother of the petitioner shall be permitted to execute power of attorney in terms of relevant provisions of West Bengal Jail Code. 4. Superintendent of Suri District Correctional Home is directed to permit brother of petitioner who is an under trial prisoner to execute deed (power of attorney) as prayed for in this writ petition on following norms. 5.
