The writ petition alleges inaction on the part of the respondent CESC Authorities in providing new service connection at the petitioner’s residential premises. 2. Mr. Halder, learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that the petitioner’s meter is installed at 243-V Maniktala Main Road where the petitioner used to reside earlier. However, since the said premises is in a dilapidated condition, therefore, the petitioner has shifted to premises no. 243-N Maniktala Main Road. It is submitted that the petitioner has applied for new service connection at premises no.243-N, Maniktala Main Road which has not been provided by the respondent CESC Ltd. 3. Dr. Saha Ray, learned Advocate appearing for the respondent CESC Authorities submits that new service connection can be effected in favour of the petitioner at premises 2 no.243-N, Maniktala Main Road but that would require payment of costs by the petitioner. 4. Mr. Halder, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is ready and willing to pay costs for such new service connection. 5. In such view of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent CESC Authorities to effect new service connection in favour of the petitioner at premises no.243-N, Maniktala Main Road, Kolkata – 700054 within a period of three weeks from the date of compliance with all necessary formalities by the petitioner along with payment of requisite costs, in accordance with law. 6. The respondent CESC Authorities would be entitled to remove and take back the meter that has been installed in the name of the petitioner at premises no.243-V, Maniktala Main Road, upon effecting new service connection at premises no.243-N, Manikltala Main Road. 7. WPA 17108 of 2026 stands disposed of. No costs. 8. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
