Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the application of the petitioner for grant of contract carriage permit (auto Rickshaw) in favour of the petitioner on the route Belghoria Station to Birati has not been granted despite the representation dated 22nd August, 2025. Learned counsel submits that the ban imposed by a notification of the Government of West Bengal dated 2nd August, 2004 on the grant of permit (Auto Rickshaw) operating within the Kolkata metropolitan area has been lifted by further 2 notification of the Government of West Bengal dated 26th December, 2018. 3. Learned counsel for the State appearing through VC undertakes that the application of the petitioner for grant of contract carriage permit (auto Rickshaw) on the route Belghoria Station to Birati shall be considered and decided expeditiously in accordance with law after giving the parties an opportunity of being heard. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in these circumstances, the petitioner would not like to press this petition further, subject to the appropriate direction being passed. 5. In view of the submissions made, the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, North 24 Parganas, is directed to consider the application of the petitioner for grant of contract carriage permit (auto Rickshaw) on the route Belghoria Station to Birati and the representation dated 22nd August, 2025 expeditiously preferably within six weeks after giving the parties opportunity of being heard. The authority shall communicate the decision within two weeks to the petitioner. 3 6. With the aforesaid observations, the present writ petition stands disposed of. 7. All parties shall act on the basis of the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Dinesh Kumar Sharma, J.)
