The petitioners through instant petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking direction to respondent No. 1 to decide their application for correction of award dated 16.12.2024 (Annexure P-1) filed under section 33 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 in a time bound manner.

The petitioners’ land situated at Village Verka, Tehsil Amritsar-II came to be acquired for the development of Delhi-Amritsar- Katra National Highway (NH-5A) under the provisions of National Highways Act, 1956 (for short ‘1956 Act’). The Land Acquisition Collector (LAC) passed an award dated 06.08.2021 whereby compensation was awarded for the acquired land. Being dissatisfied with the LAC award, petitioners filed reference under section 3G(5) of 1956 Act before learned Arbitrator for enhancement of compensation who DEEPAK BISSYAN 2026.07.21 11:18 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this

passed the impugned Award dated 16.12.2024. As per claim of petitioners Arbitrator fell in error qua revenue numbers which persuaded them to file an application dated 12.03.2025 for correction of the same but to no avail.

Learned State Counsel submits that Arbitrator-cum- Commissioner, Jalandhar Division Jalandhar would look into the matter.

In the wake of statement of learned State counsel, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to Arbitrator-cum- Commissioner, Jalandhar Division Jalandhar to look into petitioners’ grievance and address the same within six weeks from today.
