CNR No: PHHC010182022026 CRM-M-6771-2026 1 IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA AT CHANDIGARH 221 CRM-M-6771-2026 Decided on :20.07.2026 Amanjeet Singh @ Guri . . . Petitioner(s) Versus State of Punjab . . . Respondent(s) CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE SANJAY VASHISTH Present: Mr. Kanwaljeet Singh, Advocate for the petitioner. Mr. Vinay Malhotra, DAG, Punjab. **** SANJAY VASHISTH , J. (Oral) 1. Present second petition has been filed under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, seeking concession of regular bail in FIR No. 115 dated 14.11.2018, registered under Sections 302, 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959 (Sections 489 and 411 IPC having been added subsequently), at Police Station Kotwali Nabha, District Patiala. It is not disputed that petitioner had earlier approached this Court by filing CRM-M-56663-2024 seeking the same relief. Said petition was dismissed vide order dated 28.04.2025. However, while declining the concession of regular bail, this Court directed the learned trial Court to conclude the trial expeditiously, preferably within a period of six months. RASHMI 2026.07.21 10:49 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CNR No: PHHC010182022026 CRM-M-6771-2026 2 2. Today, learned State counsel, on instructions, has informed the Court that out of a total of 46 prosecution witnesses, 36 witnesses have already been examined and two witnesses have been given up. Thus, the trial is now at an advanced stage and is nearing its conclusion. 3. I have considered the submissions addressed by learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record. 4. Having regard to the gravity and nature of the allegations, coupled with the advanced stage of the trial, this Court is not inclined to grant the concession of regular bail to the petitioner at this stage. Accordingly, present petition is disposed of with a direction to the learned trial Court to make all endeavours to conclude the trial within the next three months. It is further observed that petitioner should not be compelled to approach this Court repeatedly on account of delay in the conclusion of the trial. In the event the trial is not concluded within the aforesaid period for reasons not attributable to the petitioner, learned trial Court concerned shall forward an explanation. 5. Let copy of this order be sent to the trial Court concerned for necessary information and compliance.
