In the matter of : Pritam Paul @ Gopal
… Petitioner(s)
Mr. Soumya Nag Mr. Rajdeep Sengupta
… for the Petitioner(s)
Mr. Gouranga Kr. Das, ld. APP Mr. Sanjib Das
… for the State-respondent(s)
Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was earlier granted bail but because of his absence, his bail was cancelled, subsequently, he has been taken into custody. The petitioner is in custody for about 70 days. Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail. However, I find that although the case was registered in the year 2024, but, till date, the evidence of the victim has not been completed. Having considered that the victim became pregnant when she was minor, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail.
2 Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected. Accordingly, CRM (M) 1586 of 2026 is dismissed. Memo of Evidence submitted be kept with the record. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
