Considering the nature of the allegations contained in this writ petition, leave is granted to the learned advocate-on- record of the petitioner to amend the writ petition by masking the name of the petitioner at appropriate places. Department is directed to ensure corrections in the official website of the Circuit Bench in terms of this order. The petitioner alleges that no effective steps have been taken by the police authorities on the basis of the complaint
2 lodged by the petitioner excepting registration of an FIR. Ms. Singh, learned Junior Government Pleader, files the report of the Inspector-in-Charge, Maynaguri Police Station dated July 17, 2026 which is taken on record. The said report states that upon registration of the FIR, investigation was started. Victim, being a minor was produced for medical examination and thereafter was produced before the Child Welfare Committee and her statement under Section 183 of the BNSS were recorded. During investigation the child in conflict with law was apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Jalpaiguri. From the report it appears that the investigation is progressing. This writ petition stands disposed of with an observation that the investigating officer shall conclude the investigation in accordance with law and as expeditiously as possible.
