1. Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record. 2. Petitioner being a septuagenarian lady has approached this Court with the present writ petition seeking direction upon the concerned police authorities to provide protection as it is alleged that petitioner is threatened and ill treated by respondent no.4 who is daughter-in- law of petitioner. Prayer is also made in this writ petition for registration of FIR based on

subsequent complaint lodged before the concerned police station. 3. State respondents and private respondents are represented by learned advocates. 4. Learned advocate representing the State respondents has filed a communication dated 22nd July, 2026 of Inspector-in-Charge, Ghola Police Station, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate and the same is taken on record. Copies of such communication are made over to the learned advocates representing petitioner and private respondents. 5. It appears from the submission made on behalf of the parties and communication dated 22nd July, 2026 that based on previous complaint dated 15th June, 2026 an FIR was registered being Ghola Police Station Case No.155 of 2026 dated 15th June, 2026 under certain provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. Since criminal prosecution has already commenced, concerned police authorities are directed to take such proceedings to its logical conclusion expeditiously and file report before the Jurisdictional Magistrate.

on behalf of the police authorities that on 2nd July, 2026 when alleged incident took place, petitioner was not staying with her son, namely, Sandipan Majumder but petitioner was staying with her another son; taking note of present age of the petitioner and it is alleged that she is being threatened by respondent no.4 her dauther-in-law, concerned police authorities are directed to provide protection to the petitioner, if occasion so arises. 6. Writ petition stands disposed of. 7. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
