PP Mr. Subir Ganguly Mr. Sandeep Prasad Shaw …for the State This revisional application has been filed seeking a direction for the expeditious disposal of Sessions Case No. 34 of 2021 (Sessions Trial No. 4(4) of 2022), arising out of G.R. Case No. 1750 of 2017 (New G.R. No. 3050 of 2019), which arises out of Madhyamgram Police Station Case No. 354 of 2017 dated 29 June 2017, registered under Section 195A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and is presently pending before the Court of the Learned Fast Track Court- III at Barasat, North 24 Parganas. Mr. Nabendu Krishna Ghosh, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner, who is an accused in the said case, is suffering from cancer. 2 It is further submitted that the charge sheet was filed on 31 August 2017, and charges were framed on 11 April 2022. Learned counsel further submits that, out of the seven witnesses cited by the prosecution, only two witnesses have been examined by the Learned Trial Court thus far. Having regard to the prolonged pendency of the trial and the facts and circumstances of the case, this revisional application is disposed of with a direction to the Learned Trial Court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of eighteen months from the date of this order, without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. Accordingly, CRR 5519 of 2025 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
