The Pradhan of Ghoshpara Gram Panchayat tendered his resignation on 4th July, 2026 which was accepted by the Prescribed Authority on 8th July, 2026. The Prescribed Authority, by a notice issued on 14th July, 2026 fixed a meeting on 22nd July, 2026 for election of a new Pradhan. The meeting was deferred due to non-availability of police assistance and re- scheduled on 30th July, 2026. The petitioner seeks a direction upon the police authority to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority so that the meeting is held without any hindrance. In view of the above, the Officer in Charge, Jalangi Police Station, being the 6th respondent herein, is directed to render necessary assistance to the Prescribed Authority and Block Development Officer, Jalangi Block, being the 5th respondent herein, so that the meeting scheduled tomorrow, that is on 30th July, 2026, is held peacefully and without any disturbance from any corner whatsoever. The writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of requisite formalities.
